Early Detection of Alzheimers using Non-Invasive Eye Scan

A patent application has been filed in the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) entitled, “SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EARLY DETECTION OF ALZHEIMERS BY DETECTING AMYLOID-BETA USING ORBITAL ANGULAR MOMENTUM”. An Abstract, Background and Summary or Description of said filing follows:

ABSTRACT:

An apparatus for measuring a concentration of amyloid-beta within a chiral solution includes signal generation circuitry for generating a first signal having an applied first orbital angular momentum signature and applying the first signal to the chiral solution. A detector for receiving the first signal after the first signal passes through the chiral solution and determining the concentration of amyloid-beta within the chiral solution based on a detected second orbital angular momentum signature received from the chiral solution that comprises an amplitude measurement and a phase measurement.

BACKGROUND:

Alzheimer’s disease is a serious affliction arising most often in individuals as they reach oldage. Symptoms of Alzheimer’s include serious memory loss, confusion and behavioral changes. The visible symptoms of Alzheimer’s often only began arising in the later stages of the affliction. Changes within an individual’s brain having Alzheimer’s begin long before the appearance of memory loss and other visible symptoms. Existing treatments and medications have been shown to be more effective when begun upon the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Thus, there is a need for providing for the early detection of Alzheimer’s.

SUMMARY or DESCRIPTION:

The present invention, as disclosed and described herein, comprises in one aspect thereof anapparatus for measuring a concentration of amyloid-beta within a chiral solution includes signal generation circuitry for generating a first signal having an applied first orbital angular momentum signature and applying the first signal to the chiral solution. A detector for receiving the first signal after the first signal passes through the chiral solution and determining the concentration of amyloid-beta within the chiral solution based on a detected second orbital angular momentum signature received from the chiral solution that comprises an amplitude measurement and a phase measurement.
